Robotics Club mission statement

The John Abbott Robotics club is set out to provide an engaging community for learning hands on crafts to people of all experience levels. We believe that anyone with some time and interest can master any area of the club, as well as develop leadership and team project skills.

2

Our vision

Create a club where people can do things themselves, with minimal risk, and maximum opportunity to learn. In a world of large corporations, we promote the everyday person building solutions of their own!

3

Our values

• Collaboration, communication, and a willingness to take initiative.

• Sharing leadership for a greater project.

• Patience and understanding

4

Our aim

• Represent John Abbott College in Robotics competitions, namely the CRC.

• Design, construct, and program a competition robot to perform a sport.

• Design, construct, and decorate a themed information booth (kiosk).

• Document and edit videos showcasing our club projects.

• Build and host a website showcasing our club projects.

Welcome To our club

I joined robotics to learn more about design and engineering of robotic mechanisms. I was not disappointed. My favorite thing to do is perfectly aligning t slotted bars along the wall by length. My therapist says I should stop spending every waking hour on robotics. Yes I am so excited for the competition to finally see this robot surpass our expectations... which were initially as low as a 2.75 inch wood cube :(

I joined robotics because I’ve always enjoyed hands on projects. Also I wanted to learn more about the engineering of the robot. My favourite thing to do in the club is trying new things, whether it be a new power tool or something like soldering. I definitely am excited for this competition and the experience that has and is to come with it.

I joined robotics because I really liked building things when I was younger so this was a good way to get back it. I also wanted to learn more about the building and engineering of robots through a hands-on approach. My favourite things to do in the club are learning how to build something from scratch and using the jigsaw. I am definitely exited for the competition to see how everything comes together in the end.
